Construction price index rises more slowly than recently

Construction prices in Switzerland have continued to rise, albeit somewhat more slowly than before. More had to be paid in both building construction and civil engineering.
The construction price index of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), which is recorded twice a year, rose by 0.6% to 114.5 points (October 2020 = 100) between April and October 2023, as the federal authority announced on Tuesday. The price upswing has thus weakened slightly compared to the previous six months, when prices had risen by 1.0%.
This resulted in a price increase of 1.6% for the annual period (October 2022 to October 2023).
Prices in building construction rose slightly less strongly than in civil engineering in the past six months. The increase of 0.4 percent in building construction is attributed by the FSO to price increases in "financing from the start of construction", among other things. The higher interest rates are therefore making themselves felt here. However, prices in the "fees" and "sanitary facilities" categories have also risen.
In geographical terms, construction costs rose in all regions except Espace Mitteland, where they stagnated.
The price increase in civil engineering amounted to 1.1%. According to the FSO, this was primarily due to higher prices for "track construction" (superstructure, earthworks and substructure) and "fees". Prices rose everywhere, but most strongly in central and eastern Switzerland.
