The Council of States has started the summer session with a debate on the priorities on the political agenda. Its responsible committee is proposing the deletion of several points that the National Council has included in the 2023 to 2027 legislative plan.

In addition to relations with the EU, finances and climate protection, the Federal Council's dispatch focuses on new challenges such as artificial intelligence, crisis management, energy supply and the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The Legislative Planning Committee of the Council of States wants to dispense with some of the points added by the National Council in April. Among other things, it wants to remove the demand for a financial transaction tax for AHV financing.

The mandate to submit a dispatch on the conclusion of negotiations with the EU is also controversial. The majority wants to delete it, while a minority wants to follow the National Council.
