Court case on the homicide in Netstal GL to be repeated

The trial in March for the homicide in Netstal GL will be repeated. As the Glarus cantonal court announced on Monday, it considers the defense of the man charged with murder at the time to be insufficient.
In October 2021, the then 27-year-old Tibetan had shot his ex-girlfriend, who was also Tibetan, twice in the head with a pistol in Netstal. In court, he spoke of an accident.
It was incomprehensible why the official defense lawyer demanded a conviction of her client for murder, the court wrote in the statement. Other possibilities, in particular a conviction for involuntary manslaughter, were not even put forward by the public defender as a contingency.
The court will therefore dismiss the lawyer as the defendant's official legal representative. After the decision becomes final, it will assign the accused a new defense and repeat the main hearing.
