Diocese of Lugano reports ten suspected victims of abuse

Since the publication of the study on abuse in the Catholic Church in September, ten alleged victims have come forward to the diocese of Lugano. Most of the cases involve sexual harassment, but some also involve sexual acts with children and sexual abuse.
Some of the cases were already known, while others were new allegations, the diocese wrote on Wednesday in response to a request from the Keystone-SDA news agency. The reports had been brought to their attention via the expert commission for sexual abuse or via the bishop.
The alleged victims could contact the psychiatrists or psychotherapists on the expert commission directly and would then be interviewed several times. If the victims agree, a report is drawn up for the commission of experts. The commission then decides how to proceed. Depending on the wishes of the victims, a referral to the Swiss Catholic Church's Compensation Commission is also possible.
