Two drug dealers have been sentenced to several years' imprisonment in Solothurn. They were part of an international gang with offshoots in Grenchen SO, according to the Solothurn public prosecutor's office. Around 300 kilograms of cocaine mixture were confiscated.
The two accused were sentenced to eight years and one month and six years and ten months' imprisonment respectively by the Solothurn-Lebern magistrates' court, as the public prosecutor's office announced on Monday. The sentences handed down last Thursday are not yet legally binding.
Road value of 15 million francs
Together with the cantonal police, the Solothurn public prosecutor's office has been investigating an international drug trafficking gang since 2021. The group had been distributing heroin and cocaine on a large scale throughout Europe, in some cases from Grenchen. The public prosecutor's office confiscated around 300 kilograms of cocaine mixture with a street value of around CHF 15 million.
In addition to two smaller seizures in the Grenchen region, the bulk of the 256 kilograms was seized in the port of Hamburg, the public prosecutor's office writes. In addition, two firearms and cash amounting to more than 50,000 Swiss francs were seized during house searches and other operations between 2021 and 2024.
International cooperation
In addition to the Federal Criminal Police of Fedpol, authorities in Hamburg and Tirana (Albania) were also involved in the investigation. The proceedings against seven other suspects are still ongoing, as a spokeswoman for the Solothurn public prosecutor's office told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request.
