With the new A350 aircraft type that Edelweiss is adding to its fleet, the airline will also be flying to new destinations in future. This was explained by company boss Bernd Bauer in a podcast published by "Travel News" on Thursday.
"The A350 takes us into a whole new dimension in terms of kerosene consumption," he told the tourism industry magazine. The aircraft consumes around a quarter less fuel than the A340. This reduces costs and also increases the range. As a result, the company could "once again consider long-haul destinations such as Vietnam, Brazil or Argentina, which had previously been dropped," said Bauer. In addition, Peru and Indonesia are other destinations that Edelweiss could fly to in future thanks to the A350.
In the podcast, Bauer expressed his satisfaction with the development of the new destination Bogotà in Colombia, which Edelweiss has been offering since November. "Within just a few months, we were able to double the number of Swiss nationals arriving in Colombia," he said. However, there are still too few guests from Colombia coming to Switzerland. However, Bauer is confident that he will be able to increase the number of Colombian passengers.
