The employees' organization "Angestellte Schweiz" is demanding up to 2.2 percent more pay for the coming year. The economy is showing a cautiously positive trend, but employees are still feeling the effects of difficult economic years. The organization is now focusing on the middle wage groups.

The organization announced on Tuesday that working people are still under pressure as real purchasing power is not increasing to the same extent despite lower inflation.

Middle wage groups are particularly affected, as they have often only seen nominal wage increases to date. In previous years, Angestellte Schweiz had demanded increases for the lower salary groups in particular. Now it is crucial to also focus on strengthening the middle wage groups.

The adjustments made so far have reduced income differences, the organization wrote. However, this has also led to a certain degree of dissatisfaction. It is "of the utmost importance for our members" that employers "implement a clear and significant wage increase for this group", Managing Director Stefan Studer was quoted as saying in the press release. The adjustment should ensure "that all employees feel valued and remain motivated to deliver their best performance".
