Europa-Park in southwest Germany will open its new "Voltron Nevera" roller coaster on April 26. "The rush will of course be extreme," said park boss Roland Mack on Thursday in Rust (Baden-Württemberg). Germany's largest theme park will open its gates for the summer season this Saturday.

Last year, Mack initially held out the prospect of launching the almost 1.4-kilometre-long roller coaster at the start of the 2024 season, but at the same time pointed out delivery problems during construction. An exact date for the opening has not yet been set.

"Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac" - its full name - is located in the newly built Croatian themed area. According to Mack, it can transport around 20,000 people per day. Test rides have already been running for some time.

The newly rebuilt "Alpenexpress Enzian" family roller coaster, which was badly damaged in a major fire last year, is due to be back in operation from May 14. The "Tiroler Wildwasserbahn", which was also rebuilt, was also affected by the fire in June. At the time, the fire broke out in a technical room of the "Yomi Magic World of Diamonds" attraction.

Mack announced that the park would be easier to reach from Switzerland from Whitsun (May 19/20). A direct rail connection from Basel at weekends is planned.

In 2023, the previous year's record number of over six million visitors was exceeded - shareholder Jürgen Mack did not give an exact figure. The leisure facility north of Freiburg employs around 5,000 people. According to the online booking system, a standard day ticket will cost at least 61.50 euros in the new season.
