The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern warns against traveling to Lebanon. A fierce battle is currently raging in Israel's northern neighbor between the fundamentalist Islamic Hezbollah in Beirut and the Israeli army, which has already claimed several hundred lives.

"The situation in Lebanon is unsafe and dangerous. Travel is not recommended," reads a statement issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) on the online portal X on Monday evening.

It goes on to say: "If you are there, leave the country by commercial means if possible." The Swiss embassy in Beirut remains open for limited support.
