Federal Councillor Viola Amherd had to stay on the ground during her visit to the storm-ravaged Maggia Valley. The Ticino crisis team confirmed corresponding reports from Ticinonline at a media conference on Wednesday. No helicopter was available.
The Federal Councillor had actually traveled to Ticino to see for herself the devastation caused by the storm, wrote the Ticino online medium Ticinonline on its website. However, this goal was not achieved. The reason: Amherd did not get a helicopter.
Colonel Manuel Rigozzi, head of the crisis unit for territorial relations in the canton of Ticino, confirmed the gist of the article to the media in Locarno on Wednesday. At the time of Federal Councillor Viola Amherd's visit, all helicopters were in use for the search for missing persons or the evacuation of private individuals. That was more important at the time.
