150 experts from integration promotion, social welfare offices and RAVs met for a first "national impulse conference" on the labor market integration of Ukrainian refugees. The aim is to significantly increase the rate by the end of the year through closer cooperation between the various agencies.
The aim of the conference was for the cantons to learn from each other so that labor market integration could be accelerated, the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) announced on Friday. This is because the processes in all regions need to be improved.
In his opening speech on Thursday, Justice Minister Beat Jans said that the Federal Council's goal of integrating 40% of refugees into the Swiss labor market by the end of this year is ambitious. This is because the figure is currently only 25 percent. But now "a jolt is needed in Switzerland", said Jans.
In addition to the cantonal integration and social welfare offices and the regional employment offices (RAV) of the cantons, refugees also provided information on where there was still room for improvement. For its part, the SEM is working on providing targeted information to jobseekers and employers. The federal government is also supporting a pilot project for the recognition of diplomas and the assessment of skills.
