On Friday evening in Courtepin FR, a severe head-on collision occurred, resulting in five people being seriously injured and one killed. A 24-year-old driver had veered onto the opposite lane in a left curve and crashed into a car and a scooter. The 28-year-old scooter rider died at the scene, according to the Freiburg Cantonal Police on Saturday. The accident perpetrator and his co-driver of the same age were seriously injured. The three occupants of the other car, a 53-year-old driver and two women aged 58 and 80, were also seriously injured. The man had to be freed from the car by the fire brigade. Two Rega helicopters and several ambulances were deployed to treat the victims. The injured were transported to hospitals in the region and in Bern. The cantonal road between Pensier and Courtepin was closed for 6 hours. The exact circumstances of the accident are still unclear and are being investigated. The police are looking for witnesses.
