Five villages in the southern Graubünden valley of Misox have lost power after heavy thunderstorms and rainfall. In some of the affected communities, the water supply has also been cut off. The A13 national road was also severely damaged.
The water in all affected municipalities Lostallo GR, Cabbiolo GR, Sorte GR, Arabella GR and Norantola GR is not drinkable, as the commander of the Graubünden cantonal police, William Kloter, told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. It is currently not possible to say when the flow will return.
The A13 national road between Roveredo GR and the San Bernardino Pass is currently closed. The A13 is buried, destroyed and impassable across all four roads, it was reported to the media.
The cantonal road in the valley was also closed, a police spokesperson added. Only the emergency services could reach the affected villages from the south via the road. Boulders five to ten meters in size were lying on the road in places.
