Former Jura cantonal councillor Gérald Schaller dies

Former Jura councillor Gérald Schaller is dead. He died on Thursday night after a long illness. The 70-year-old Pruntruter had been a member of the government of the canton of Jura as a CVP representative from 1995 to 2006.
The spokesman for the Jura government, Julien Hostettler, and the family of the deceased confirmed the information published by various media to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Thursday.
After leaving the Jura government in 2007, where the lawyer was Minister of Finance and Justice, Schaller was unable to retain the seat in the National Council for the then CVP (now Die Mitte); it went to the SVP.
