The Fribourg media companies Mediaparc AG and Freiburger Nachrichten AG want to launch a joint digital platform for German-speaking Fribourg. The aim is "a high-quality offering with local news, entertainment and service elements", as the two companies jointly announced on Tuesday.
Over the course of the coming year, the German-language section of the Frapp news platform and the digital channels of Freiburger Nachrichten are to be merged.
The region is too small for two providers, they said. It was therefore time to pool expertise and resources. A mixed form of free and paid content in a subscription model is being discussed.
Mediaparc AG is the operator of the bilingual news platform Frapp, which was launched in 2020. It employs 18 people. Freiburger Nachrichten AG has 75 employees; in addition to the daily newspaper "Freiburger Nachrichten", it publishes the local newspapers "Murtenbieter" and "Anzeiger von Kerzers".
