Two men who allegedly killed a 27-year-old man a good 16 years ago were questioned at the Frauenfeld TG district court on Monday morning. One of the accused assured the court that he had nothing whatsoever to do with the case. The other refused to make any statement.

He met the later victim as a guest in his restaurant, said the now 63-year-old Swiss man, who worked as a landlord before his arrest in August 2022. The 27-year-old Egyptian's wife did the bookkeeping for him. She was also the landlord's maid of honor and he helped her move house.

According to the indictment, the Egyptian was allegedly eliminated on their behalf. Undercover investigators were deployed to investigate the crime. The accused is said to have confessed the crime to one of them. In doing so, he is said to have given details that assumed knowledge of the crime.

The second defendant, a 59-year-old Italian, exercised his right to refuse to testify without exception.
