Gerhard Andrey, a Green member of the National Council from Fribourg, wants to bring climate protection, progressive entrepreneurship, digitization and the younger generation into the national government. A quarter of the Swiss voting population is not represented in the Federal Council, he says.

This is how Andrey justified his interest in a federal council candidacy for the Swiss Greens to the media in Fribourg on Tuesday. The people had made it clear with their "yes" to the Climate Protection and Innovation Act that they wanted "more climate protection without delay," Andrey continued.

Apart from his political commitment, his leadership experience, his digital knowledge and his innovative strength also qualified him for a seat on the Federal Council. These skills are underrepresented in the national government today, he said.

The support of his family and his children in favor of a candidacy for the Federal Council had finally tipped the scales in his favor.

Andrey also said that in December there would be an overall election of the Federal Council. The members of the national government would therefore have to face an election - just like other politicians. It should not be possible to determine in advance how this election will turn out.

Such an election is not a real election, but rather a "rigged game," Andrey said at the media conference of the Green Party of Canton Fribourg.
