Greens celebrate No to highway expansion as historic victory

The Greens see the probable "no" to the highway expansion as a historic success for the traffic turnaround. The Federal Council now has a responsibility to focus on modern transportation concepts.
In its communiqué on Sunday, the party wrote that the planned highway expansion would have been excessive, outdated and overpriced. "Today heralds a turnaround in transportation in Switzerland. The population has rejected the Federal Council's backward-looking transport policy," said Lisa Mazzone, President of the Greens.
The result was received with enormous relief. In a press release, she spoke of an encouraging sign for the development of sustainable mobility with the inclusion of all means of transport.
