André Wyss, outgoing CEO of Implenia, is to take over as Chairman of the SBB Board of Directors in 2026. This was announced by SBB. It had previously been announced that Wyss will vacate the chair at Implenia in March 2025.
Wyss is to be elected to the SBB Board of Directors in April 2025, as announced by SBB. The Federal Council approved this election at its meeting on Wednesday, at the request of the SBB Board of Directors. Wyss will then take over as Chairman in 2026, succeeding Monika Ribar.
Born in 1967, Wyss has a profound understanding of the political and economic framework conditions in Switzerland, SBB wrote on his election. He therefore has all the prerequisites for his new role at SBB.
From 2025, he will take over the seat on the SBB Board of Directors from Véronique Gigon, who is stepping down. The current Chair of the SBB Board of Directors, Monika Ribar, will have to step down in 2026 due to the twelve-year term limit.
With a view to a seamless handover of office, the Confederation carried out a search process at an early stage, SBB wrote on the decision. Following his election to the SBB Board of Directors, Wyss will work together with Ribar for a year and prepare to take over the chairmanship.
Wyss is Swiss and lives in Bottmingen BL. He has been CEO of Implenia for over six years. In a statement issued by Implenia on Wednesday morning, he said that he wanted to withdraw from operational activities and focus on existing and new mandates.
