The three Jewish umbrella organizations in Switzerland, Germany and Austria have signed a cooperation agreement at the Community Day organized by the Central Council of Jews in Berlin. "The agreement is a commitment to self-confident and diverse Jewish life in German-speaking countries and provides for increased cooperation and cross-border coordination to promote Jewish life and in the fight against anti-Semitism," according to a statement on Sunday.
The agreement was concluded between the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities, the Central Council of Jews in Germany and the Austrian Jewish Religious Society. Their presidents stated: "This sign of cohesion and cooperation between our organizations is particularly important in these times when Jewish life is also under threat in Europe."
With the friendship treaty, they reaffirmed their commitment to the state of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. They also pledged their efforts to take action against Israel-related anti-Semitism, disinformation and boycott movements.
