The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland is investigating four people connected to the Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov. In this connection, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) has blocked CHF 1.3 billion on a super-provisional basis.
The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) confirmed information from the daily newspaper "Le Temps" on Wednesday. After extensive preliminary investigations, it had asked Seco to open an investigation. This was opened in November.
The investigation is currently targeting four individuals and persons unknown on suspicion of violating the embargo law in connection with the current situation in Ukraine and on suspicion of money laundering.
As Seco currently writes on its website, the total value of Russian assets frozen in Switzerland amounted to CHF 7.1 billion on August 13. This includes real estate, luxury cars and works of art belonging to individuals or companies against whom sanctions have been imposed.
