The defendant at the District Court of Uster ZH claimed self-defense on Thursday. The now 30-year-old Swiss man stabbed a 28-year-old man to death after going out in November 2022. They were arguing about a ride in the car.
"I panicked and was scared to death," said the accused. The later victim sat on him and did not stop hitting him. He then reached for the knife.
The reason for the argument between him and the victim was a ride in his car. Both had previously attended a private birthday party in Uster and did not know each other beforehand. The incident took place in the parking lot.
The public prosecutor is demanding a prison sentence of 18 years for intentional homicide. The accused's defense lawyer has not yet made any motions. It remains to be seen when the verdict will be handed down.
