Lifeless worker found upside down in a shaft in Obersaxen GR

A lifeless worker was found upside down in a shaft in the Graubünden mountain village of Obersaxen on Monday evening. The 45-year-old Portuguese man, who worked in the region, was pronounced dead on site.
The man was found by his work colleagues at around 9 p.m. after they followed a tip-off from a third party to a parked van. In a hamlet, they found their colleague lifeless and upside down in a vertical manhole, as reported by the Graubünden cantonal police on Tuesday.
The workers pulled their colleague out of the shaft, administered first aid and alerted the emergency services. A team from the rescue service began resuscitation, but had to stop. The man was pronounced dead on site.
Together with the public prosecutor's office, the cantonal police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of this death.
