Locarno Solidarity with Striking Hollywood Workers

The 76th Locarno Film Festival is being affected by the Hollywood strike. Giona A. Nazzaro, the festival's artistic director, confirmed this in an interview with Keystone-SDA. He stated that the festival supports the striking writers, actors, and other film industry workers who are demanding higher wages and guarantees for the use of artificial intelligence. Nazzaro also highlighted the Mexican retrospective, which will feature around 30 films that have never been shown abroad. He also praised the new generation of Swiss filmmakers, who have created unique films with a Swiss identity. The 76th Locarno Film Festival will take place from August 2nd to 12th. Marco Solari, the festival's president, will be stepping down after more than 20 years in the role, and his successor will be announced at the board meeting on July 24th.
