Major fire breaks out in industrial warehouse in Lumino TI

A fire broke out in an industrial warehouse in Lumino TI near Bellinzona on Saturday afternoon. The fire, which was fanned by the wind, quickly spread through the building. It caused thick smoke in the surrounding area. According to initial police reports, no one was injured.
The fire broke out for unknown reasons at around 1.30 pm. Several fire departments and specialists from the air, water and soil protection department were on site, according to the Ticino police. Extinguishing work was still underway at around 4 pm.
As a precautionary measure, the authorities advised residents not to open their windows and not to approach the scene of the fire. The cantonal road was closed at the scene of the fire.
