Man fatally injured after being hit by train in Zollikofen near Bern

A man was hit by a train in Zollikofen near Bern on Tuesday morning. He sustained fatal injuries, according to the Bern cantonal police. An accident is in the foreground.
The police were informed shortly before 10:30 a.m. that a person had been hit by a train in Zollikofen, as they wrote in a statement on Tuesday. At the scene, the emergency services were only able to determine that the man had died.
For reasons still to be clarified, the man had walked onto the track on his own. He was then hit by a train. Despite the train driver immediately initiating emergency braking, the accident could not be prevented, it was reported.
Train services were interrupted for around three hours due to the accident and recovery work. The Bern cantonal police have started an investigation.
