A woman who has been missing in the canton of Aargau since April 12 has been found dead in a body of water in Frankfurt (D). Shortly afterwards, the cantonal police found the woman's husband in his house in Merenschwand AG, according to the Aargau public prosecutor's office.

During a police operation in Merenschwand AG on Wednesday afternoon, the Aargau cantonal police found the body of a 54-year-old man. It was the husband of the 44-year-old woman who had previously been reported missing.

In the missing person's report published on Tuesday, the police wrote that the woman had driven to Germany in a car on April 13 and were looking for witnesses. Subsequently, information was received from the Frankfurt police that a dead woman had been found in a body of water there.

Investigations then confirmed that it was the 44-year-old woman who had last been seen in Muri on April 12. During the investigation, the police clarified the connection to her 54-year-old husband, who was then found dead at his home in Merenschwand.

The Muri-Bremgarten public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation, as the Aargau public prosecutor's office writes. A connection between the two deaths cannot be ruled out.
