By rejecting the bill on subletting, the voters missed the opportunity to stabilize the rental market, according to the Centre Party. For the FDP, the destructive campaign of the left was successful in the double No: the housing shortage would remain and rents would continue to rise.

In a "Trumpian populist manner", the left had stirred up fears and ignored facts, wrote the Free Democrats. This had led the country into a deadlock without offering any solutions. In addition, the ideologized left is increasingly receiving support from the "formerly" bourgeois SVP.

For the Center Party, the rejected owner-occupancy regulation prevents a simplified property takeover by the owner, as the Center Party announced on Sunday. Nothing would have changed in terms of the notice periods. However, it had not been possible to convince a majority of the improvements.

For the Evangelical People's Party (EPP), the double "no" vote is an expression of the tight housing market and dwindling confidence in parliament due to excessive rents. Rents are rising too sharply and yields often exceed the legal requirements. Politicians are called upon to put a stop to the maximization of yields at the expense of tenants.
