The Mobility Cooperative, which specializes in car sharing, kept its sales and profit stable in the 2023 financial year. With sales of CHF 84.2 million, a small increase of 0.3 percent on the previous year, the bottom line was again around CHF 1.4 million in surplus.

The result exceeded expectations, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. "Especially as the cooperative was confronted with various additional expenses in a difficult economic environment." According to the statement, the continued high prices for new electric cars, investments in the charging infrastructure and expenses for digitalization weighed on the result.

More customers

However, the car-sharing company has also gained more customers. Around 277,000 people, 16,000 more than in the previous year, are now using the approximately 3,000 vehicles in Switzerland. At the same time, the number of cooperative members has also risen by 1,000 to 75,800. The number of business customers is expected to increase by 3 percent to 5,350 companies in 2023.

And despite the "difficult framework conditions" for the expansion of electromobility, Mobility is sticking to its goal of driving purely electrically by 2030. However, the digital systems and processes are also to be further expanded. In view of these measures, the cooperative anticipates a burden on the income statement over the next three years.
