Mountain climber falls to his death in Stein SG

A 68-year-old mountain climber fell to his death on the Mittlere Goggeien near Stein SG on Monday. Rescue workers were only able to recover the man dead.
The St. Gallen cantonal police found the accident victim on Monday evening below the south face of the Mittlere Goggeien, as they wrote in a press release on Tuesday. They had previously found his car in a parking lot nearby.
The police had been alerted because the man, who lives in the canton of St. Gallen, had not returned after a hike. Rega, Alpine Rescue Eastern Switzerland and members of the fire department were also deployed.
