No charges in the wake of the Middle East demonstration in St. Gallen

The slogans uttered at the "Stop the violence in the Middle East" demonstration in the city of St. Gallen at the end of October have no consequences under criminal law. The public prosecutor's office of the Canton of St. Gallen has decided not to conduct a criminal investigation. It is of the opinion that the slogans expressed did not incite hatred or discrimination.
The public prosecutor's office announced in writing on Friday that it had examined whether an article concerning discrimination and incitement to hatred could be fulfilled. However, the slogans did not publicly incite hatred or discrimination against a person or a group of people because of their race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
The slogans that were checked were in particular "From the River to the Sea" and "Intifada until Victory", both of which could be read on signs at the demonstration. This was confirmed by the St. Gallen city police on request.
The rally was called by a group called "Boundless Solidarity". Carrying numerous Palestinian flags and banners, the participants walked from Kornhausplatz to Marktgasse and back to the starting point at the end of October.
