One dead in collision in the canton of Vaud

A 67-year-old man died in a car accident in Montagny-près-Yverdon VD on Tuesday. He was thrown from his car after a collision with a delivery van and died at the scene of the accident.
According to initial findings, the driver lost control of his vehicle on a left-hand bend on his way from Yverdon-les-Bains to Sainte-Croix and collided with a warning sign at the side of the road, as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Wednesday. He then crossed the road and collided with a van coming from the opposite direction.
After this collision, the car came to a halt in a field below an adjacent embankment, about 30 meters from the road. A passing motorist alerted the emergency services. They were only able to determine that the driver had died.
The driver of the van, a 62-year-old Italian, was questioned. Two of his passengers were taken to the hospital in Yverdon-les-Bains with minor injuries.
