Those with a 1e-Vorsorgeplan in the occupational pension scheme should not lose their capital when changing jobs. This was approved by the Swiss National Council on Thursday with 100 to 82 votes and three abstentions. The motion was proposed by Urner FDP-Ständerats Josef Dittli and had already been approved by the Council of States in March. It will now be implemented by the Federal Council who will draft a proposal to amend the Free Mobility Act. 1e-Plans are pension plans in which the insured can choose from a range of investment strategies. This offers great opportunities for higher returns, but also carries the risk of losses. This type of pension plan is only available for insured salary parts with an annual salary of around 130,000 Swiss francs. The motion aims to build a protection mechanism for the retirement savings of those insured with 1e-pension funds. If an employee voluntarily or involuntarily leaves a 1e-pension plan and the new employer's pension fund does not offer a 1e-pension plan, they must immediately liquidate the 1e-investments and transfer them to an ordinary BVG solution at the new employer. If the new pension fund does not have a 1e-plan, which is often the case, and the insured loses their job during a stock market crash, they will suffer immediate capital losses on their retirement savings. Therefore, the employee should be given the option to keep their pension savings in a free mobility facility for up to two years when leaving a 1e-pension plan. The Federal Council rejected the request. They argued that the self-responsibility of the insured with 1e-pension plans was reduced and spoke of a desolidarisation. If the new pension scheme got into difficulties within the two-year period, those with high salaries who had not yet transferred their capital would not have to bear the consequences.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
