A doctor appointed by the judiciary will assess the state of health of French actor Alain Delon. This comes after the 88-year-old and his son Anthony applied to the public prosecutor's office to be placed under protection "for health reasons".
The public prosecutor's office had "called in an authorized doctor (...) to assess the situation of Alain Delon", explained the public prosecutor of Montargis, Jean-Cédric Gaux, on Thursday.
Alain Delon is in increasingly poor health after suffering a stroke in 2019. His youngest son, Alain-Fabien, recently explained in "Paris Match": "Sometimes he's there, sometimes somewhere else (...). Most of the time, you don't know what's going on in his head".
For over a week now, the actor's three children have been publicly airing their family dispute via the media and the courts. The main issue is where Delon should spend the rest of his life. All three siblings deny that they are concerned with the inheritance and say they want to protect their father.
Alain Delon is resident in Switzerland and has Swiss citizenship, but is currently staying at his home in Douchy-Montcorbon, France. France is known for its high inheritance tax.
Delon's sons Anthony and Alain-Fabien accuse their sister Anouchka of manipulating their father. Anthony accused her of wanting to take him to Switzerland to avoid having to pay too much tax on the inheritance. Alain-Fabien filed a lawsuit against his sister on December 22 for "abuse of weakness" to the detriment of their father.
For her part, Anouchka explained that she wanted to take her father to Switzerland because the medical care there was better and he could be better looked after. She accuses her brothers of endangering the life of the actor from "The Swimming Pool" and "The Leopard".
Delon had rarely appeared in public after his stroke. Last year, his children had the Japanese woman Hiromi Rollin thrown out of the actor's residence and sued her for mental abuse. French media reported that the children feared their father would remarry. The case has since been dropped.
