The Zurich public prosecutor in charge of the case demanded a higher sentence for the accused right-wing extremist at Zurich District Court on Friday. Instead of the previous 8.5 years, the 26-year-old is now to receive a 12-year prison sentence.

In June 2020, the student allegedly attacked a then 18-year-old man with a knife during an argument and caused life-threatening injuries. The argument was triggered by a T-shirt with the words "White Lives Matter" that the accused was wearing.

The public prosecutor's office is demanding a conviction for attempted manslaughter. They are also accusing the man of spreading right-wing extremist content on the internet.

He refuses to testify

The defendant, who is already serving an early sentence, refused to testify in court. The district court had already sentenced him to five and a half years' imprisonment in July 2022. However, the high court overturned the sentence due to gross procedural flaws, which is why the case is now being retried before the district court.
