The Swiss Public Transport Interest Group is not satisfied with the timetable design of the Federal Office of Transport's revised concept for long-distance rail services for 2035. Even after improvements, there are disruptions to connections and longer journey times in several regions.

The Public Transport Interest Group (IGÖV) wants the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) to make the current status of the planning basis publicly accessible so that an overall assessment is possible, as it writes in a press release on Saturday. There are fears of deterioration that are not transparent on the table today.

The interest group finds it particularly incomprehensible that the very successful Zurich-Sargans-Innsbruck-Vienna rail-jet connection is still to be rerouted via St. Gallen, with a journey time extension of 30 minutes. The extended journey times of the 2025 timetable on the Bern-Geneva and Biel-Geneva routes, among others, are also criticized. These would be retained in the 2035/40 draft timetable

IGÖV is calling for rapid improvements in international transport, especially to important transfer hubs such as Lyon and Munich.

IGÖV rejects calls for a general moratorium on expansion projects. A halt to rail expansion would be detrimental to public transport.
