Rail traffic between Basel and Strasbourg interrupted

Due to heavy thunderstorms in the region, rail traffic between Basel SBB and Strasbourg (F) was interrupted on Monday evening. According to the rail traffic information on X, the interruption is expected to last until 11.45 pm.
Train cancellations and delays are to be expected, the statement continued. Travelers between Basel SBB and St. Johann should therefore use the streetcar.
MeteoSwiss warned of severe thunderstorms in the region on its hazard map and issued a "high" hazard level. A severe weather warning stated that a thunderstorm with a danger level of red was moving eastwards over the Basel region after 8 pm. Hail, heavy rain and heavy squalls were to be expected. There was a considerable risk of thunderstorms across the entire northern side of the Alps in the evening.
