The Swiss travel fund Reka has acquired a traditional hotel in the Engadin. From winter 2026/2027, it will become a new vacation resort - the cooperative's third in the Engadin.
It is the Hotel Scaletta in S-chanf, as Reka announced on Tuesday. It served as a guest house for 130 years and then stood empty for 10 years.
Reka has entered into a long-term partnership with the Scaletta S-chanf Foundation for the takeover. The foundation will renovate the dilapidated house from spring 2025, preserving the historic character of the building.
Reka contributed a "substantial amount" to the purchase price of 14.7 million Swiss francs, according to the statement. Further funds came from credit companies, private donations, Swiss Mountain Aid, the municipality and the canton of Graubünden. The transaction is expected to be completed this late fall.
The hotel reportedly has 27 rooms and 8 vacation apartments as well as a restaurant and a small wellness area. It is also suitable for families and is close to the national park.
Reka operates 11 vacation villages and various hotels and vacation apartments in Switzerland. The non-profit cooperative also includes the subsidiaries Golfo del Sole and Swiss Holiday Park. In the Engadin, Reka already operates in Madulain and Scuol.
