In Ticino, the return journey of people from German-speaking Switzerland has begun. At the Gotthard south portal, there was a four-kilometre-long traffic jam on Easter Sunday afternoon.

The Touring Club of Switzerland (TCS) reported on the short message platform X that this meant a time loss of up to 40 minutes. When asked, a spokesperson for the traffic information company Viasuisse said that, based on experience, the return traffic from the south starts around midday on Easter Sunday.

The traffic jam near Airolo TI may have been caused by the fact that there were traffic delays on the San Bernardino route from Ticino towards Chur at Easter. The TCS reported an accident between the village of San Bernardino and the San Bernardino tunnel on the A 13 highway.

On Good Friday, when many people from German-speaking Switzerland wanted to travel to Ticino despite the unfavorable weather forecast, traffic jammed up to twelve kilometers in front of the Gotthard north portal
