Road between Sierre and Vissoie closed after landslide

A landslide occurred near Vissoie in Valais on Sunday night. The cantonal road between Vissoie and Sierre was closed until further notice as a precautionary measure.
The landslide occurred on the outskirts of the village of Vissoie in the direction of Sierre. Around 2000 cubic meters of material came loose, as the Valais cantonal police confirmed various media reports from western Switzerland at the request of Keystone-SDA.
During a helicopter flight, it was discovered that a further 1000 cubic meters of unstable material was present at the demolition site. As a precautionary measure, the cantonal road between Vissoie and Sierre was therefore closed.
