Roche more valuable than Nestlé again

The pharmaceutical group Roche has knocked Nestlé off its throne. With the recent advances in the bearer shares and participation certificates of the Basel-based pharmaceutical group and the significant losses in the shares of the French-speaking Swiss food company, Roche is once again the most valuable Swiss company.

Nestlé currently has a market capitalization of around 230 billion Swiss francs. At the pharmaceutical group Roche, the holders and profit participation certificates together add up to 232 billion. This is due not least to the contrasting share price performance since mid-June. While Nestlé shares have been on a steady downward trend since then, Roche shares have experienced a real renaissance.

Nestlé shares experienced a strong setback, particularly with the presentation of figures on Thursday (yesterday). At CHF 87.56, they now cost as little as they did at the beginning of 2019.

Roche Bons, on the other hand - the larger and more liquid of the two Roche classes - have been unstoppable since their low in mid-May. After a weak phase in the first half of the year, everything now seems to be back to normal for investors.

Meanwhile, heavyweight number three on the Swiss stock exchange, the second Basel-based pharmaceutical group Novartis, with a market capitalization of CHF 213 billion, is still within sight of the two.
