Ruag International sells lithography business to Zeiss SMT

The aerospace group Ruag International is selling its lithography business to the semiconductor division of Zeiss. The contract is to be concluded before the end of this year, according to a press release issued on Thursday. The parties did not disclose the selling price.
ZEISS SMT (Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology) is reportedly taking over all of Ruag International's approximately 200 employees, assets and the two production sites in Zurich and Coswig (Germany). The lithography division of Ruag International, which was founded in 2022 as an independent unit of Ruag International, has been working with Zeiss SMT for over two decades and supplies the company with special components, according to the press release.
Zeiss SMT therefore offers "an ideal environment for the further development of the great expertise" that has been built up for the division over the years, Ruag International CEO André Wall is quoted as saying in the press release.
The sale, which is expected to be completed this year, will allow Ruag International's space division, Beyond Gravity, to concentrate fully on its space activities with the remaining Launchers and Satellites divisions.
