The two railroad companies SBB and BLS want to introduce a half-hourly service on the Biel-Delsberg-Basel route from December 2025. This will be possible thanks to the opening of the Grellingen-Duggingen double track in the Basel region.

SBB and BLS have agreed that BLS will be able to offer an additional connection on this route from the end of 2025, the railroad companies announced on Wednesday. BLS has ordered seven additional Mika trains with 242 seats and bistro, luggage and bicycle zones from Stadler Rail for this purpose.

The second connection per hour will continue to be operated by SBB. They are also planning to extend it to Lausanne. So far, the connection ends and begins in Biel/Bienne.
