Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has once again pointed out the urgency of air defense weapons. Ukraine urgently needs more air defense systems and Western fighter jets, Zelensky said in his daily video address on Monday. "Unfortunately, the free world lacks speed on these two issues." Due to its air superiority, Russia could destroy Ukrainian cities and defensive positions with glide bombs. According to him, the Russians were actively using destructive tactics on the front sections near Kharkiv and in the Donetsk region in the direction of Chasiv Yar and Pokrovsk.

Selensky had already requested the delivery of two more Patriot air defense systems several times in recent days. He said that this would provide better protection for Kharkiv, which has been repeatedly attacked from the air. The city of millions in the north-east of Ukraine is one of the places hardest hit by the war.

The fighter jets also mentioned by Selenskyj were promised to Ukraine a year ago. However, according to official information, the F-16s have still not arrived in the country. According to experts, the generally long delivery times of the West allow Russia to prepare for the new weapons.

In addition to the fighting, Selensky also addressed the peace summit in Switzerland. This summit will be "truly global", he said, with heads of state and government from all continents attending. However, Russia was not invited to the meeting. China, which is said to have great influence on decisions in Moscow, has not yet decided whether it wants to send a delegation to Switzerland despite the invitation.
