Siegfried has found a new CEO: Marcel Imwinkelried will take the helm at the pharmaceutical supplier on September 1. Reto Suter, who is managing the company on an interim basis following Wolfgang Wienand's move to Lonza, will resume his role as Chief Financial Officer.
With Imwinkelried, Siegfried is relying on an internal solution: he joined Siegfried at the beginning of 2021 as Head of the pharmaceutical product sites in Barbera del Valle and El Masnou (Spain) as well as Irvine (California), as was reported in a press release on Wednesday. In October 2021, he was then promoted to Operational Head of the Drug Products Division.
Prior to his career at Siegfried, Imwinkelried held various positions of increasing responsibility at the pharmaceutical company Novartis from 2005, where he was promoted to Global Head Technical Operations Solids in 2018.
Andreas Casutt, Chairman of the Board of Directors, was quoted in the press release as saying that Imwinkelried's appointment as CEO was not only based on his professional track record, but also on his personality and leadership qualities. He has all the prerequisites to continue the Group's growth trajectory.
The former Siegfried CEO Wolfgang Wienand was poached by the large industry neighbor Lonza. He has been CEO there since this summer. At Siegfried, however, Chief Financial Officer Suter took over the role of CEO on an interim basis at the beginning of May.
