At the Grisons State Chancellery in Chur, 25 electoral lists for the National Council elections were received by the deadline on Monday. A total of 122 people are running for election, the highest number ever. The proportion of women is 33%, which is typical for Grisons. Nine parties are competing for the five Grisons seats, also the highest number ever. For the first time, the EVP Grisons and the Free Independent Grisons group are running with a list. The EDU is also participating again after the party skipped the national elections in 2015 and 2019. Two large list alliances are facing each other in the election campaign. The first includes the heavyweights Die Mitte and FDP (7 lists in total). The so-called "Climate Alliance" includes the also large SP and the smaller parties GLP, Greens and the Free Independent Grisons lists (11 lists). With 5 lists, including the youth parties, SVP and GLP have submitted the most electoral proposals. This is followed by Die Mitte with four lists, SP and FDP with three lists, and the Greens with two. One list each comes from EDU, EVP and the Free Independent Grisons. Of the current Grisons National Council quintet, only SP National Councilor Sandra Locher Benguerel is not running for re-election. Magdalena Martullo-Blocher (SVP), Anna Giacometti (FDP), Martin Candinas (Mitte) and Jon Pult (SP) are running again. The fight for the SP seat that is becoming vacant is particularly fierce. The SVP lost it to Left-Green four years ago and now wants to take it back. The party has put forward Magdalena Martullo-Blocher, party president Roman Hug and Grisons Farmers' President Thomas Roffler in addition to its current candidate. The SP is sending three cantonal councillors and one cantonal councillor in addition to its flagship, the current National Councilor and Vice President of the SP Switzerland Jon Pult, to compete for its second seat.nnnnnn
