The SP Switzerland is discussing two of its key issues at the party conference in Davos GR this weekend: In two position papers, the delegates call for a social fiscal policy and a strategy for a public pharmaceutical industry.

With the financial position paper "Ending the class struggle from above, releasing the brakes on the future: A financial policy for purchasing power, social justice and the future", the Social Democratic Party criticizes bourgeois financial policy.

The scaremongering about a financial collapse and new national debt is unfounded. On the contrary, it endangers the purchasing power of the population and Switzerland's prosperity. The SP is therefore calling on Saturday for investment in purchasing power, equal rights and climate protection.

State should regulate

On Sunday, the pharmaceutical position paper "Drug crisis: SP calls for public pharma strategy" will take center stage. In it, the delegates call for the state to take an active regulatory role, particularly in the pricing of medicines.

The SP is also calling for the federal government to buy back the Sandoz company. Furthermore, according to the demands of the party leadership, the profits of the pharmaceutical industry must come to an end. The prices for medicines in Switzerland are far too high compared to other European countries due to "diverted" margins.

Slogans already adopted

The party has already adopted its slogans for the federal votes on November 24 at an earlier date: It rejects all four proposals.

In addition to the two position papers, the program of the party conference also includes the general election of the presidency, speeches by the two SP Federal Councillors Elisabeth Baume-Schneider and Beat Jans and numerous resolutions.
