Last March, Spanish police found a 17-year-old Swiss girl and her father in the small Spanish town of Coín. According to the authorities, the girl was at high risk of being kidnapped by her father.

The girl and her father hid behind a broken-down car and were then taken to the police station, as the Blick newspaper published on Friday. Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old and her sisters had been raised by their father in a Swiss forest, far away from civilization, before fleeing to Spain. The father was against all social institutions and structures.

The apprehended girl was initially placed in a child protection center in Málaga. At the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) confirmed that a Swiss citizen was returned to Switzerland on May 3. The FDFA did not provide any further details for data protection reasons.
