Stans rope pulling world champion in last “Wetten dass…?” show

The TV show "Wetten dass...?" is coming to Switzerland - at least with the outside bet. In the last edition of the show on November 25, it takes place in Stans NW. A local rope pulling club wants to move the Stanserhorn cable car with pure muscle power.
The Stans-Oberdorf rope-pulling club is betting that it can pull the funicular railroad carriage, which weighs over seven tons, ten metres up the track within 120 seconds, as the railroad company announced on Tuesday. He had already made the same bet in 1993, but failed to meet the time limit back then.
The rope pulling club is the current world champion in the "640 kilogram" class. They are now undergoing special training twice a week to prepare for the competition, explained initiator Christian Zumbühl in the press release. The rope pullers are optimistic, but their success depends on various factors such as the weather, form on the day, nervousness and the atmosphere.
The rope pullers can count on a great atmosphere, as the Stanserhorn cable car will provide a supporting program. The outdoor bet will be presented by cabaret artist Hazel Brugger. Thomas Gottschalk will end his career as a betting presenter on the show after 36 years.
