SVP: “Negotiating mandate is window dressing”

The SVP has rejected the EU negotiating mandate proposed by the Federal Council on Friday. It is "pure window-dressing", as the Federal Council is prepared to largely meet the EU's demands in the so-called "Common Understanding", the party stated.
That is why, in reality, EU officials and Swiss civil servants had long since created facts with the blessing of the Federal Council, the party wrote. The Federal Council accepts "the automatic adoption of EU law, submission to the EU Court of Justice and billions in payments to the EU".
The Federal Council is also in favor of the EU being able to take punitive measures against Switzerland if the Swiss electorate does not adhere to the EU's requirements. With the negotiating mandate, the Federal Council is approving "the total subjugation of Switzerland to the EU".
According to the party, bilateral agreements would take place between equal partners on an equal footing.
